Fees

You are coming to a seasoned, effective therapist.  Most people who start with Lisa, stay with her. They return  the next time they need a therapist and they refer their friends and family.  Cash, checks and credit / debit cards are accepted as payment.

Intake appointments lasting 60 to 90 minutes during normal hours:

  • Individual  $200
  • Couples $225- Not Currently Working with Couples

Follow up appointments lasting 53-55 minutes during my normal hours:

  • Individual $175
  • Couples $200 -Not Currently Working with Couples

90-minute sessions (85 minutes actual) may occasionally be available.

Follow up appointments lasting 85 minutes during my normal hours:

  • Individual is $225
  • Couples $250 - Not Currently Working with Couples

Extra time is prorated at $100 per hour.  So, for example, a 90 minute session would be $175 + $50 = $225.

Insurance Plan Rates are negotiated between your therapist and the Insurance company, in my case, United Behavioral Health / Optum.  Insurance plan sessions are either 38 minutes or 53 minutes. You are responsible for deductibles and copays with United which vary from plan to plan.

Pre-Paid Packages for Personal Growth

Prepaid package rates are available for personal growth / coaching clients. No diagnosis is given and no insurance can or will be billed for these package rates.

  • $800 for 5 (60 minute) sessions - discount rate of $160 / hour
  • $1600 for 10 (60 minute)sessions - discount rate of $160 / hour

OTHER FEES YOU MAY INCUR:

Cancellation Policy ~$75 up to Full Fee~

If a session is missed or rescheduled without 24 hours’ notice, Monday through Friday, a late fee of $75 will be charged for the first time and full fee thereafter.  Repeated late cancellations will lead to a referral to another provider.  If you have exceptional life circumstances that may cause you to need to cancel last minute, like care of a disabled person or personal doctor appointments for a serious medical condition, discuss this with me on your first session so we can figure out a plan.

Legal and Employment Paperwork - $40 - $150+

Note: I no longer fill out short or long term disability paperwork for employers; unless you are  already receiving this service from me.  (A minimum of two (2) weeks lead on completing any forms and up to 1 month is needed.)  Should you need paperwork filled out, you will need to see another provider who does that.

Legal cases - $400+ I do NOT take on legal cases, like auto crashes or custody hearings, but if a judge orders your records or my attendance at any hearing, I charge $200 per hour for my time to review, copy and send records, travel to / from and testify at hearings, PREPAID $400 minimum to cover case review, prep, administrative duties, etc.

Insurance

In-Network provider for: United Healthcare / Optum

  • NO Medicare or Medicaid plans
  •  Insurance plan sessions are either 38 minutes or 53 minutes.

Out-of-Network coverage is available for many PPO plans such as:

  • Aetna,
  • Cigna,
  • BlueCrossBlueShield,
  • AvMed,
  • TriCare and
  • ValueOptions.

You may call your insurance and ask about "out of network coverage benefits."  You are responsible to pay the full fee up front. I will provide you with a "superbill" to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

Curious Why I Don't Take Insurance?

I want you to have the best me I can offer.  I work for YOU and not an insurance company!  Insurance companies can add numerous stipulations that detract from your care. Remember, this is a boutique practice with the aim to provide you with advanced, individualized care.

Insurance can be restrictive to both you and the therapist.  For example, they may not allow marital counseling because it is not an "individual illness."  Or they may dictate that only 45 minutes (38 face-to-face minutes) will be allowed.  They may not allow me to choose emerging techniques that could be of great benefit, eg Brainspotting, Tapping, Somatic Therapy, Mindfulness, etc.

Flexibility.  Should we need extra time, insurance does not pay for this.

Insurance requires a medical diagnosis.  While I attempt to use the least restrictive accurate diagnosis, a diagnosis could impact you in the future for things like a security clearance or life insurance.

Under insurance, unless you have a chronic diagnosis, you may be limited to how many sessions you can receive before excessive work is required of the therapist to prove you need additional care.  This makes both of us grumpy: me, because I am dedicated to time with YOU not tedious paperwork, and you, because I will charge you for this time.  Consider making yourself worth the investment.
