You are coming to a seasoned, effective therapist.  Most people who start with Lisa, stay with Lisa.  And they come back the next time they need a therapist. Plus they refer their friends and family.  Cash, checks and credit / debit cards are accepted as payment.

Intake appointments lasting 60 minutes during my normal hours:

  • Individuals is $175
  • Couples $200.

Follow up appointments lasting 53-55 minutes during my normal hours:

  • Individual is $150
  • Couples $175

Many of my clients prefer 90 minute sessions (85 minutes actual).

Follow up appointments lasting 85 minutes during my normal hours:

  • Individual is $200
  • Couples $225

 Extra time is prorated at $100 per hour.  So, for example, a 90 minute session would be $150 + $50 = $200 and couples would be $175 + 50 = $225.  I typically see couples for 90 minutes @ $225.

Insurance

 In-Network provider for: United.

Out-of-Network coverage is available for many PPO plans such as Aetna, Cigna, BlueCrossBlueShield, AvMed, TriCare and ValueOptions.  We can check on that for you! You are responsible to pay the full fee up front, but we provide you the form for reimbursement.

Note about using insurance

Insurance can be restrictive to both you and the therapist for a multitude of reasons.  For instance, they may not allow marital counseling because it is not an "individual illness," or they may dictate that they will only pay for 45 minutes (38 face-to-face minutes), or they may not allow me to choose emerging techniques that could be of great benefit.  I have been moving towards 90 minute sessions with both couples and trauma clients.  Insurance will not routinely pay for this.  I want you to have my best self where together we do what is dictated by your needs, not the needs of an insurance company.

There is another issue:  insurance requires a medical diagnosis.  While I attempt to use the least restrictive accurate diagnosis, a diagnosis could impact you in the future for things like a security clearance or life insurance.

Under insurance, you are considered to have a treatable illness or condition. Unless you have a serious diagnosis, you may be limited to how many sessions you can receive before excessive work is required of the therapist to qualify you.  This makes us all grumpy: me, because I don't have time to do this and you, because I will charge you for this time.  The fact is, insurance is not set up to cover personal growth.  Which makes sense.  Consider making yourself worth the investment.

Insurance does not cover appointments you make and do not keep or that you cancel less than 24 hours ahead Monday through Friday ($65).  They do not cover the charges for records or paperwork for short and long term disability ($40-150 plus).

Note: I no longer fill out short or long term disability paperwork for employers; only those already receiving this service from me.  I need a minimum of two (2) weeks lead on completing any forms and up to 1 month.  You will need to see another provider for that.  Nor do they cover expenses for legal cases, which I do NOT do, but if a judge orders your records or my attendance at any hearing, I charge $200 per hour for my time to review, copy and send records, travel to / from and testify at hearings, PREPAID $200 minimum.

Some other things

  • Cancellations of less than 24 hours ahead Monday through Friday or no show ($65 first time, full fee thereafter, repeated late cancellations will lead to termination)
  • They do not cover the charges for records or paperwork for short and long term disability ($40-150 plus). Note: I no longer fill out short or long term disability paperwork for employers; only those already receiving this service from me.  You will need to see another provider for that.
  • Nor do they cover expenses for legal cases, which I do NOT do, but if a judge orders your records or my attendance at any hearing, I charge $200 per hour for my time to review, copy and send records, travel to / from, waiting and testifying at hearings, PREPAID $200 minimum.  My schedule stays booked and it is a huge inconvenience to my patients to cancel them or reduce my schedule for legal proceedings.
